Year 7 english Summary

During Yr7 pupils will continue to build on the core skills of ‘reading’ and ‘writing’ that they have developed at primary school, but also begin to recognise the way the subject of ‘English’ will ultimately become two separate GCSEs; English Language and English Literature. They will read a range of fiction and non-fiction texts and understand how to analyse these texts from both a linguistic and literary perspective. Their writing will allow them to develop the ability to structure analytical responses to texts and also to explore a range of styles, tasks and genres within their fiction and non-fiction. They will also work on developing their presentational skills and have an understanding of differing styles of spoken language.
