Year 9 Chemistry Summary

Term 1 - In Topic C1, students are introduced to foundation principles about the Periodic Table and the structure of the atom. They also learn about the properties of atoms and elements and the history of the atomic model and the Periodic Table.

Term 2 - In Topic C10, students learn about how we use and conserve the vital resources that we need from the Earth and how to make choices which protect the planet for future generations. In Topic C2, students learn about the particle model and how it is used to define matter.

Required Practicals - are covered over a sequence of five lessons where students plan and carry out a scientific investigation and then analyse and evaluate their results. Questions about these investigations may appear on their GCSE exam paper. In Year 9, students do the first two of eight required investigations
