Football Triumph at Seagrave

Our Year 8/9 Girls’ Football Team enjoyed a magical day at Leicester City’s Seagrave Training Ground, competing against six other schools as part of a local tournament.

The squad – many of whom were representing the school for the first time – were exemplary role models, demonstrating fantastic spirit and outstanding teamwork.

After completing all their matches, the team finished fifth, with Nicole as top-scorer. Wren was named ‘Top Sportswoman,’ Alexis ‘Most Improved’ and Lucy ‘Player of the Tournament.’

The girls thoroughly enjoyed their trip to Seagrave. Alongside the tournament, they took part in a crossbar challenge, and got to design their own t-shirts. They were especially delighted when they caught a glimpse of the Leicester City squad, who were returning for pre-season training on a neighbouring pitch.

The football theme continued the next day when the SkyBet Championship trophy – the same one hoisted aloft by Leicester's Jamie Vardy, Marc Albrighton and Ricardo Perreira two months previously – was brought into school and our sports teams had great fun posing for photos with the iconic accolade.

It was a fitting conclusion to the sporting year and we look forward to even more fantastic opportunities throughout 2024-25.
