Inclusive Sports Festival
On Monday 17th March, The Cedars Academy – which serves as the host site for the South Charnwood School Sport and Physical Activity Network – welcomed five local primary schools for their annual inclusive sports festival. Among the five schools were Hallam Fields and Riverside, also a part of Lionheart Educational Trust. This event provided a wonderful opportunity for children to engage in a variety of new and exciting inclusive sports, including Boccia, New Age Kurling and Archery.
Each activity was expertly managed by the Cedars' Sports Leaders, who not only facilitated the activities but also offered positive encouragement and coaching throughout the day. This allowed the Sports Leaders to develop and hone their own skills beyond the classroom environment.
One primary school teacher praised the Sports Leaders for their exceptional ability to lead the activities and for their supportive and motivational approach.
The Sports Leaders programme is instrumental in supporting the holistic development of our pupils, ensuring that more children can develop a positive association with sport and physical activity.
This initiative plays a pivotal role in fostering a love for sports and encouraging physical activity among young students.
