We pride ourselves in enriching the lives of our post-16 students both academically and holistically, whilst ensuring they are fully equipped with life-long skills and knowledge to meet the challenges of Higher Education and the ever-evolving workplace.Our holistic enrichment includes a range of different extra-curricular activities, designed to build employable skills and develop students’ confidence, empathy and independence.
Holistic development opportunities include:
- Extended Project Qualification
- Crest Award in STEM
- Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award
- National Citizenship Service
We also encourage our students to take on a volunteering placement to develop their empathy, as well as the soft skills desired by employers. Such placements include:
- Coaching younger students
- Reading mentors for Year 7
- Maths lesson support for KS3
- Peer subject tutoring
- Library assistants
Being a smaller community means our students can take on lead roles in organising social and charity events. Such events include:
- Social trip in term 1 to welcome our new cohort
- Table tennis and 5-a-side football tournaments
- Halloween movie night
- Crochet club ran by Year 13
- MacMillan Coffee Morning
- ‘Cooking for Uni’ lessons
- Christmas
- Community litter pick
- Christmas visit to a local care home
